Every pixel, drawn by hand

Every creature, tree and cloud, and the moon above them, started as a drawing. Then they were stood up in a world you can walk into, backs and all.

Why I'm making Paper's Call

When I was a kid, Asheron's Call was the first world I ever got lost in: a whole land on a PC screen, full of strangers who became friends. I've wanted to give that feeling back ever since.

So I'm drawing a world, piece by piece, and building it in the open. No Kickstarter. No paid early access. No selling you a promise. What you see here is what exists: every monster, tree and cloud drawn by hand, in a world you can already walk into. It grows while you play.

Rhun, Max & Jax

Choose your path

Three ways to start, and no locked classes: whatever you train is yours, and specializing makes it sing.

The sword, drawn by hand

Swordsman

Sword and buckler in hand. Strength for the cut, Endurance to keep swinging.

The bow, drawn by hand

Ranger

Bow in hand, the sword on the hip. Coordination for the arrow, a steady Focus.

The fire bolt, drawn by hand

Mage

Wand in hand, fire bolts from the stone. Focus for the bolt, Endurance to survive the cast.

Or place every point yourself on the Custom path.

What is Paper's Call?

A first-person online fantasy world, made in the spirit of the great old PC online worlds. You see it through your own eyes; your weapons stay put away until you draw them.

Lifestones and portals

Tie yourself to a lifestone and death brings you back beside it. Step into a portal and ride a tunnel painted from the sky itself to wherever it leads.

Train what you want

Sword, bow, war magic, item magic. Attributes and skills you raise yourself, the old way.

One shared world

Everyone walks the same land and fights the same monsters, together. Soon, a portal you summon to a far lifestone will carry your friends too.

Coming later: extraction runs

Queue alone or with a partner from the city, go down, grab what you can and get out alive. Die and you lose only what you found.

Coming later: the Dark Flow

A land where anyone can fight anyone. You will be warned before you walk in.

An online fantasy world played in first person, where everything you see was drawn by hand: the monsters, the trees, the sky. You explore, fight, train your skills and meet other players.

When can I play?

Right now, free, in your browser: play Paper's Call. The world is open while it is being built, so it grows while you play.

Do I need an account?

Rhun at Max & Jax, drawing every piece of the world.
